Armed robber being ignored as shop owner says he's busy
A man's attempt to rob a New Zealand shop at knife-point has ended in dismal failure because his intended target was too busy putting chips into the freezer.
Security camera footage posted on the West Coast police's Facebook page shows the man, wearing a bag over his head, repeatedly indicating that cash should be handed over but to no avail, during the attempted robbery of Arkwrights Dairy and Takeaway in Westport on New Zealand's South Island last week.
He taps his knife on the cash register and points it at his bag but gives up after about 30 seconds and walks out.
Owner Peter Chan told the Westport News he wasn't scared at the time and initially thought it was a joke. He said he told the offender he was too busy and carried on putting chips in the shop's freezer.

His wife then pointed out the security camera to the would-be robber. He peered at it then tapped his knife on the till once more before walking out. Police believe the man may have had a reusable supermarket bag on his head with eye holes cut in it.
